NEWS

11.19.08 - The new videos are up and rockin'! Check'em!

Our trip to NACA in Ontario, CA was a blast. We learned a lot and met some really cool folks.
Meet the super cool Hans Eberbach-
Other good folk include - Jeremy Buck & The Bang, Raining Jane, The Dimes (Portland), and our temporary neighbor Neva.

9.09.08 - We are proudly re-releasing our first full-length record, "Primo de la Rocket Suit," on Sept. 15, 2008 to radio stations outside of the PNW who did not get a chance to spin it the first time around. If you happen to be in such an area, contact your local college radio station and ask them to play the record. If they don't have a copy, let us know - we'll ship one their way.

7.02.08 - Well shucks! For some reason we're in a contest to be signed to a Major Record Label - The Union Records! Alright, they're not a major label, but a label nevertheless - a nice little outfit in Portland. If we understand correctly, those guys will pay for stuff like guitar strings, canned tuna, and other such essentials to being in a
Rock Band.

If you would like to help, just go to The Union Records contest page, tick off the Half Acre Day button at the top of the page and click vote! You can do this every day! But only once every day. We recommend doing it once every day for maximum effect.

We're actually not exactly sure what we get if we win, maybe a record deal, maybe Tee Shirts. Still, like we tell our kids: Winning is the Most Important Thing in the World.

UPDATE: We cleaned house yesterday with 98% of the vote, moving us to round 2, where we are further cleaning. Don't be shy, vote early, vote often.

5.01.08 - Take a look at some hot new pix of HAD playing in the KEXP studios last week.

What's more, we were the Stranger's Band of the week.

04.21.08 - The Half Acre Weekend was a resounding success!
Thanks to everyone who came out to the High Dive last night. We had a great time. It seemed as though you did too. : ) Did The Lonely Forest bring it or what? Good times.

If you missed H.A.D. live on the radio on Saturday, not to worry, KEXP keeps an archive of shows for two weeks. We played five songs and had a fun little chat with DJ Lisa Woods. Check out the KEXP Streaming Archives and search for Audioasis or April 19 at 8pm.

02.14.08 - H.A.D. has been getting some love and finding tons of cool music on a great new site - TheSixtyOne.com- It makes finding new bands and music into a sort of game. You get a certain amount of points, and when you hear a song you love, you spend some points to "bump" it. For everyone else who bumps it after you, you get more points, and the more points you get the more you can bump. The bands, they just rack up points and move up the charts, and the discoverers and bumpers get bragging rights. It's kind of addictive. We put our stuff up there two weeks ago, and we're already at 10 out of 1000+ on the charts, beating out the likes of Radiohead, Doves, Dr. Dog (have you heard them? They RULE!), The Shins and Nada Surf. We love a site where scrubs like us can give the big boys a run for their money. Check it out!

In other news, our song, Anemones, just made "indie rock track of the week" at Garageband.com. It's already been track of the day twice and voted the 25 all-time Best Melody in Indie Rock as well as a variety of other weekly honors including Best Male Vocals, Best Guitars, Best Keyboards, Best Production, and Best Lyrics. Nice!

Keep those dancing shoes near the front of the closet! We're lining up more shows for March, April and beyond. We will keep you posted as the show dates approach.

01.17.08 - The outpouring of love keeps pouring out for the new record, Fourteen Trips Around the Sun. The band is capitalizing on this love, selling millions of copies and spending the money on puppies, of which we intend to use every part. Just kidding! We haven't sold MILLIONS.

Still, we have been playing some lovely shows for some lovely people locally and regionally (many thanks to the High Dive and KEXP, as well as Grayskul, Tullycraft and Grieves for the latest of these shows on January 5) and will continue to do so until we light out on an honest-to-gosh tour later this year.

Here are the latest aforementioned pourings out:

12.19.07 - We forgot to mention in this space over a month ago that we released that album we've been going on about. Yes, we did. We've also been rampng up on our live local shows and venturing out into the Great Beyond (Yakima). The fans, the press and the blogs have all been very kind, and we look forward to getting the word out on 14 Trips with more shows, broadcasts, and a tour. Please stay tuned.

09.20.07 - So we've been making this record album, see. It's been 18 months since we started, about the length of time it takes for a sperm whale to gestate.

The final fruit of our labor and loins, our little sperm whale, "Fourteen Trips Around the Sun," is now crowning in the great Whale Vagina of the Half Acre Day organization.

Somewhere in New Jersey, a special machine is diligently repeating the motions required to mass-produce the small plastic discs. Discs encoded with the bits and bytes that are these fifteen songs. Discs that are quickly becoming obsolete but are at this time still essential. Thanks, special machine!

What that means to those of you interested enough to read this blog, is that we will have said discs in our hot little hands by the end of the month, at which time they will become available for pre-order on our web site, you lucky devils.

Don't miss CD release party No. 1, November 1 at the Nectar. Details to follow.
